Basic printer – One-sided badge makers are inexpensive yet make professional-looking badges. Some of the basic machines will print the same information on both sides of a card for ease in viewing the information.

Barcode badge printer – This creates a code within a strip of bars on a card. The card itself can be a lightweight cardboard or heavy paper but is often PVC plastic for durability.

Magnetic strip badge printer – This creates visually read information such as a name and job title for identification. The printer also records unseen information in a microchip enclosed inside a magnetic strip on the back of a PVC card.
